Mouza Al Hamrani, ZU Alumna of 2017 from the College of Arts and Creative Enterprises, majoring in Multimedia Design #Proud_ZUAlumni
Mouza Al Hamrani is an illustrator and multimedia artist based in Ajman, UAE. Her practice is rooted in a childish fascination paired with her experiences as an adult, reflecting a sense of playfulness and wonder. It’s often revolved around her upbringing in the GCC, and what comes with it from cultural inheritences to superstitions, touching on the human condition with a side of existensialism. It thrives in a contrasting duality; visually energetic yet carrying sarcastic and often serious undertones. Having begun as an illustrator, recently Mouza has ventured into digital art and installation, her list of collaborations include well known instututions such as Jameel Arts Center, Manarat Al Saadiyat, Tashkeel, Dubai Culture as well as international brands such as Adidas, Apple and Cartier.
When she’s not working on exhibitions and art comissions, she organizes educational and public programming as the Community Outreach Coordinator for Sharjah Art Foundation, one of the leading art supporters in the MENA region.
Al Hamrani’s celebrated her first solo exhibition titled “Homepage” with the support of the Tashkeel Critical Practices Programme last year in 2024. Her work was previously shown in a number of exhibition including “Breaking Khaleeji Cultural Myths” in Kuwait City, and “Arab Animation” at Manarat Al Saadiyat, Abu Dhabi, the 10th edition of Sikka Art and Design Festival, as well as Community and Critique: Salama bint Hamdan Emerging Artist Fellowship Cohort 7 Show.
