Dear Alumna/Alumnus,
We request your support by contributing to research efforts being carried out by ZU students/Faculty on the topic: Why do Emiratis prefer public sector work? This research is one of the pioneering studies on this topic, your support is greatly appreciated.
The aim of the research is to find out what drives Emiratis towards the public sector rather than the private sector when seeking employment. While governmental jobs offered by the United Arab Emirates can be rewarding, a potential risk is posed on the UAE’s economy because of the reluctance to pursue jobs in the private sector.
By employing Emiratis, companies can tap into the local talent pool, foster long-term relationships with the community, and contribute to the overall development of the nation. With a growing young population, reluctance to pursue jobs in the private sector may also contribute to youth unemployment. Identifying the most common stressors of this type of reluctance might assist with developing innovative and long term solutions to this issue.
We hope that our research will benefit Emiratis who wish to enter the private sector as well as assist the UAE government employees towards establishing Emiratization and talent development. This would in turn empower the UAE’s youth to pursue their career aspirations and contribute to a more sustainable and diversified economy, raising the headcount of UAE nationals in the private sector.
