Join us in congratulating Maryam on her enrollment and selection at Said Business School, United Kingdom #Proud_ZUAlumni
Maryam shared the following with the ZU Alumni Team, reminiscing few memories and celebrating her career success and achievements
"I remember applying for a job at HSBC while I was still sitting for my final exams. I graduated in May 2016, and by the end of July 2016, I was already starting my first day at HSBC and getting ready to go to London for the global induction program. I met 500 fresh grads from across the world, some of whom I am still in touch with. Since then, I successfully moved from a Credit Manager role, to a Relationship Manager role, and finally - my current role as a Senior Associate in Structured Finance. It is quite an interesting area - albeit challenging. We focus on niche complex transactions for companies that require expertise that are not readily available regularly"
"Said Business School has always been one of the best Business post graduate schools worldwide. The Emirates Institute of Finance have accordingly partnered with them to introduce the “Strategic Leadership in the Era of Disruption” aims to prepare today and tomorrow’s leaders to look at challenges in a different light. The course gives an overview on several aspects that all center around how leaders can and should respond. The program gives us an opportunity to attend lectures by some of the brightest Oxford faculty members"
"Working in the private sector for almost 7 years, I am able to comfortably say that I am at the right place. I have joined the private sector initially because I felt like it was the best place to begin my career in, due to the intense learning curve that you are met with. I have quickly began to realize that the learning curve comes with its set of challenges, but the rewards largely compensate for the challenges. It has proved to be a unique experience and for an Emirati - where we still are a minority in the private sector - it provides an opportunity to excel and be noticed as an upcoming talent. The private sector also offers an opportunity to engage in innovative and diverse projects. There’s ample opportunity to develop and grow in the private sector, but most importantly, it gives us a platform to build a prosperous nation that will continue to thrive"
