Masserati: Mariam Al Karbi, First Place Winner of 2022 Internal Excellence Awards for Abu Dhabi Public Health Center Employees

Mariam Al Karbi, ZU BA Alumni of 2020 from the College of Natural Health and Sciences, majored in Public Health and Nutrition #Proud_ZUAlumni 

Mariam is an BA ZU Alumni of Public Health and Nutrition - College of Natural and Health Sciences (CNHS). She completed her training as an undergraduate research trainee in the department of Food Science and Agricultural Chemistry at the Faculty of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences at McGill University, Canada. She also completed her training with the Arab youth podcast program in the category of healthcare and nutrition organized by the Arab Youth Center.

As an Emirati Public Health Nutritionist, currently she works as a Child Obesity Officer in the nutrition section at Abu Dhabi Public Health Center.

She is responsible for conducting multiple public health nutrition programs, including programs related to tackling childhood obesity and creating healthy eating environments.

She is also an active culture enthusiast who leads and manages different cultural events and festivals to contribute to enriched life experiences for the community members. In addition, she is a youth delegate representing the UAE in the UNITE 2030 program for the world’s top young change makers who are taking action to achieve the United Nation’s sustainable development goals by 2030.

She is one of the higher education ambassadors with the Ministry of Education in 2019.

Mariam is passionate about scientific research, community education, behaviors, and challenges related to community nutrition and health. She is also a creative person who seeks to leave a positive impact on the world and create creative environments based on the latest scientific guidelines, dialogue, cultural exchange, and cooperation.

Recently, Mariam participated in the 2022 Internal Excellence Awards for Abu Dhabi Public Health Center employees and won first place in the new employee category. She received this award from His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah Al Hamed, Chairman of the Department of Health, and His Excellency Matar Saeed Al Nuaimi, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Center for Public Health.

Mariam says: "On this occasion I would like to thank Zayed University and my professors from the College of Natural and Health Sciences for empowering me and paving the way for me to enter the job market. I am beyond grateful for their efforts and dedication in supporting their students.
