The internationally accredited Master in Diplomacy and International Affairs program blends the best of tradition and prestige in helping form global leaders in the public and private sector.

The program was launched in 2009 as an advanced training and educational program for young leaders who wish to understand the complexities of world politics in the 21st century and to contribute to the solution of the challenges facing the international community. Students come from all backgrounds and disciplines ready to be prepared to assume positions of leadership in public and private entities dealing with international affairs.

The program that is delivered in English on Zayed University’s campuses in Abu Dhabi and Dubai has a unique focus on the external relations of the United Arab Emirates and the Middle East. The curriculum provides a deep understanding of critical regional and international political issues and policies by offering specialized courses in international law, international political economy, diplomatic history, security studies as well as skills development and leadership training. Practical training in public speaking is also part of the program and participants will enhance their ability to communicate with the media and potential investors.

The program is designed for professionals from both the public and private sector who seek to earn a graduate degree while working full-time. Participants are provided with comprehensive professional training, knowledge and analytical skills vital to pursue international and national careers in government, business, and the non-profit sector, or to represent the interests of the United Arab Emirates to other states and multilateral institutions.

Admission for Spring 2021 is now open to males and females of all nationalities. The key admission criteria include a four-year baccalaureate degree with a CGPA of 2.5 or higher from an accredited university recognized by the UAE Ministry of Education. Applicants must also demonstrate sufficient English proficiency to manage a challenging, fast-paced program.

Bashir AbulQaraya, PhD

Associate Professor and Graduate Program Coordinator (Master in Diplomacy and International Affairs) College of Humanities and Social Sciences Zayed University, Abu Dhabi & Dubai, UAE

Dr. Bashir AbulQaraya was awarded a BSc in Political Science by Assiut University (Egypt) in 1983. He obtained the MSc in Political Science in 1994 and a PhD in Political Science in 2007 from Cairo University (Egypt). He previously was employed as a Researcher in Political Science at the Civilization Center for Political Studies of Cairo (Egypt) and at the Cultural Foundation of Abu Dhabi (UAE). He also was employed as Director of Research Studies at the Electronic Village of Abu Dhabi (UAE). Dr.Bashir joined Zayed University in 2009 as Assistant Professor of Political Science at the Islamic World Studies Department. In 2018, he was promoted to Associate Professor at the International Studies Department, College of Humanities of Social Sciences.
